“Slate is a wonderfully versatile material to work with. Nature offers an incredible palette with a plethora of colours and textures; from the heather blues to greys, purples and greens.
“I enjoy taking un unrefined material like slate and, through what is a fairly primitive process, create something which captures the imagination of the viewer.
“Form is an important part of my work. Those which are uncomplicated are often the most satisfying; beautiful in their simplicity. Slate offers texture that many materials do not. The layers create depth, the construction is a source of intrigue to many and the slate sculptures I create, rather than dominate, tend to be dignified within, and communicate with their surroundings.”

Bronze Sculpture
“For millennia sculptors have chosen bronze as their preferred medium in which to replicate their originals. For me, casting my work in bronze is a relatively new process enabling me to create the original work in clay, plaster and other modelling mediums before casting into bronze limited editions which will endure for a thousand years.
“My work is cast using both lost wax casting and sand casting. Hugely skilful and time-consuming processes which is only possible while working closely with the finest bronze foundries in the UK.”

“Working in glass presents numerous opportunities. I feel that when choosing a medium the material itself should add something to the sculpture - glass adds another dimension.
“While the sculpture itself is permanent, the light is ever-changing. The uniform thickness of the material affords the opportunity to add some precision to the piece.”
