Sheltered Existence in Stacked Slate This stacked slate sculpture originally commissioned by Inverewe Gardens, Scotland, comprises two main parts; a sphere which represents the ecosystem – its fragility reinforced by the precarious way in which it is supported between the two portions of the cone. The cone itself represents the shelter belt of coniferous trees affording protection to the diverse array of plant life growing in this secluded location in the Highlands. Size pictured – 300 cm in height.
